I first met Stewart and his twin brother Anthony when they were 18 months old. Amber, their Mother, was dating my son Jim. Fell in love with them right away. After a few years my son and Amber broke up, but I kept in touch with her and the boys. They moved to Springhill, Florida and became quite popular. Both into every sport and had many, many friends. My husband and I took the boys to Philadelphia, Pa.,for Christmas vacation in 2000. Spent two weeks with them and never had so much fun. My family loved these two boys. Fortunately, my husband, Jim, got to drive them home to Springhill and had that time alone with them before the accident. They were home a couple of weeks when the two were riding their scooters and an elderly driver who claimed not to see them hit them both. She had just had cataract surgery, should not have been driving. Anthony lived, Stewart passed. The town came out in droves to show their support and love for Stewart. The funeral home had a flow of people for 2 hrs. The church was filled. People brought flowers and gifts and mementos for Stewart. We all miss him so much. His Mother, in Stewarts' honor, eventually had a skateboard park built at the site of the accident. She now runs the concession stand. There is a beautiful memorial for Stewart at the entrance to the park. If you are ever in central Florida stop by and say hello.
